Sing with Saro!

Theme: In this song circle, song leader Saro Lynch-Thomason will share traditional and new songs about social change, environmental justice, labor history and more.

As we learn these easy-to-carry songs, Saro will unpack important moments in the people's history- from movements to unionize Southern textile mills, to anti-apartheid struggles, to modern day visions for climate justice. You'll walk away with songs you can use at gatherings, rallies, song circles and more.

About Stellar Village Community Song Events:
Community singing is a heartfelt way to connect together, learn, and have an amazing time doing it! Normally it's done in person, but it's surprisingly still heartfelt and connective on Zoom, bringing song leader and songwriter Saro to your home or community.

In this live session we will all be in our little Zoom boxes singing along with Saro. We don't hear each other, just ourselves singing and the songleader, so when you are watching and singing along don't worry about how your voice sounds.

In most of our community singing sessions, the songleader will introduce each song and then teach it at the pace we need, with us being able to repeat the song in our living rooms or wherever we are at (microphones off).

Live on November 13, 10 am pacific, will be recorded for later viewing.

  • You don't have to sing alone - you're welcome to bring friends to the Zoom! You can have a group of people at your place participating, on or off camera (on is usually more fun for the songleader). The only caveat is that you don't charge others for it. If you want to do that, please contact us and we'll discuss fair reciprocity.

  • In most of our community singing sessions, the songleader will introduce each song and then teaches it at the pace we need, with us being able to repeat the song in our living rooms or wherever we are at (microphones off).

  • Singers of all levels welcome! If you don't sing professionally or believe you don't sing "well" we especially invite you to attend! All voices are good voices (also, we won't hear you!).

  • Enjoy fun, caring, energetic guidance from songleader Saro and host Sheniqua!

  • This event is co-produced by Stellar Village and the Grisha Stewart Academy of Dog Behavior and is included with Stellar Village memberships. Diamond GSA members will also get live access (but not the recording).
